WVTNP proposed route identified

Thank you for your continued interest in the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project (WVTNP).

Throughout 2021, our team of specialists continued to gather information from landholders, community, industry and government to understand the potential impacts and opportunities in the planning, approvals and design phases of the WVTNP.

Assessing the viability of project alternatives, such as undergrounding transmission lines and refining the project by identifying areas of significance and sensitivity, is an important part of the Environment Effects Statement (EES) process and determining the final location of the transmission line.

The proposed route has now been identified and is available to view on the project website at westvictnp.com.au.

There are also new documents on our website namely:

About the project

The WVTNP is planning a new 190km transmission line from Bulgana to Sydenham which will put downward pressure on electricity costs while providing Victorian communities with access to renewable energy projects, such as wind and solar.

Western Victoria currently hosts approximately 4,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy generation. This project is estimated to increase the Renewable Energy Zone hosting capacity in Western Victoria significantly.

Once complete, the additional transmission line capacity will carry enough energy to power more than 500,000 homes.
